Ogenblik was founded in 1969 by Georges Neefs (the former boss of the famous Brasseries Georges) and five of his friends. In 1973 Geoffroy Greindl took over the restaurant and this year celebrates his 40th anniversary at the helm.
Yves Delruelle has been at his side now for more than 20 years and has trained as his successor in all the values which have contributed to the enduring success of Ogenblik.
A stable and reliable team, combined with top quality ingredients and local produce, has ensured this restaurant is a place not-to-be-missed on the Brussels gastronomic scene…..
Did you know?
– The restaurant’s ‘spaghetti-style’ logo and street sign was awarded a Grand prix de Rome.
– The white sand on the floor is an integral part of the decor (and it’s probably the last place you’ll find it in Belgium!). It’s one of the old traditions of Brussels bars and bistros dating back to the time when customers chewed tobacco….and threw it on the floor when they’d finished. The bar staff then spread the sand to make it easier to clean…
– Numerous celebrities from the world of politics, business and the arts dine here regularly and have contributed to the first-class reputation of this unique place.
